Gingival biotype - comparative analysis of different evaluation methods

Background/Aim. Gingival biotype can have a significant impact on the outcome of periodontal therapeutic procedures and predictability their aesthetic outcome. There is strong correlation between types potential gingival recession after restorative, periodontal, implant surgical procedures. Therefore, accurate identification biotypes before initiating these one predictive factors for success. The aim this study was to evaluate reliability determination with use visual method, trans-gingival probing compared direct measurement method. Methods. This prospective involved 33 patients indicated apical root resection in intercanine sector upper jaw. performed all using following techniques: 1) method; 2) probe technique; 3) probing; 4) flap elevation. Statistical analysis obtained data assess diagnostic accuracy method relation used as gold standard, discriminate thickness (thin versus thick). Results. overall tested 66.7% 78.8% probing, 97.0% trans-mucosal probing. Conclusion. be recommended routine since its sensitivity are higher terms comprehensive accuracy, almost completely coincides but it more invasive has conducted local anesthesia.
